NORDWIND is an 84’ Marconi yawl was designed by Henny Gruber and built by Burmester, Bremen Burg, Germany in 1939. Originally she served as an officer training vessel for the German Navy as well as an ocean racing yacht. She competed in the 1939 Fastnet race where she not only won but set a record that stood for 24 years. After the end of World War II she came to England and raced in the Solent and the North Sea. She underwent a restoration in the late 70’s in England and Holland and again in Spain in early 2000.
NORDWIND came to Bristol in 2008 as part of that seasons cruise in New England. EPB removed an existing salon settee and installed a custom teak writing station and counter top with raised panel cabinet doors. Since leaving Bristol, NORDWIND has explored all corners of the globe and successfully competed in the 2011 Transatlantic race.
